My Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy is based on 3 key themes:

1. Celebrating Individuality

2. The Value of Relationships

3. Experience Based Learning

Celebrating Individuality

All students come to the classroom with a variety of talents and skills.  They have unique personalities and perspectives that can help further the understanding of their classmates.  Three ways to support individualty and and individual learning include:

Differentiated Learning

Multi-Modality

Instilling Confidence

The Value of Relationships

Building relationships is an important part of being human. Relationships give people a sense of belonging, foster growth through learning from one another, and provide support in challenging situations.  In order to foster relationships in the classroom, I believe it is important to incorporate lessons that focus on the following:

Collaborative learning

Community Building

Experience Based Learning

I am a strong believer of learning by doing. I feel it is important to provide
students with authentic experiences in which they can help further their
understanding through hands-on activities.  Two other forms of unit planning that help enhance Experience Based Learning are:

Project Based Learning

Subject Integration
