To Whom it May Concern:

Regarding: Application for Teaching Employment

I believe that I am a strong candidate for this position due to a combination of my volunteer experience, work experience and passion for working with children.

I have recently completed my Bachelor of Education Program in the CITE Cohort at the University of British Columbia.  This program has helped me to develop a strong understanding of the importance of community, inquiry and teacher education in teaching practice. In addition to this, I have discovered my passion for experiential and project-based learning. I strongly believe this pedagogical approach creates memories and deepens one’s learning and understanding. It also provides a holistic approach to learning and teaches cross curricular competencies that students will need to be successful in life. I am also very interested in helping to develop multiple literacies in children, including digital and physical literacies, as I believe this is key to moving forward into the 21st Century.  Students need to balance time spent online with being active.

My experience working in Community Centers throughout Richmond has helped me to gain a strong belief in the importance of building community and a sense of belonging. This experience has helped me develop the skills to build a strong community:  within the class, between myself and the students, myself and the parent, myself and other teachers.

Helping children to grow in all areas of development (social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional) is a privilege that comes with the teaching profession.  I look forward to continuing to work in this field.

Thank you for your consideration,
